Being a celebrity has its many awesome perks. Celebrities are rich, famous and popular. There is also the intense and crushing pressure that celebs put on themselves. Sometimes they crack under all the pressure and can turn to drugs and alcohol or their behavior can become destructive. It’s hard for any celebrity to deal with the lifestyle and it can sometimes lead to rehab.
Young celebrities might actually feel even more pressure to remain attractive and perfect. Several famous and beloved young celebs have had success and fame so fast that life starts to spin out of control. Many young celebs have had to go to rehab in order to get their life back together. Some young celebs have gone to rehab for alcohol, drugs, depression or eating disorders. Some have had several stints in rehab and it took them a while to get their life together. Some of these young celebs are now clean and sober, some continue to struggle and others had a tragic end. Here is a look at 10 of the youngest celebs to go to rehab.
10) Zac Efron
Zac Efron is an actor, singer and teen idol. He had his big breakthrough with his roles on the High School Musical films and Summerland. His film career is taking off and he’s appeared in several films, including Hairspray, 17 Again and Neighbors. In 2013, Zac had two separate stints in rehab during his mid 20’s. He has openly admitted to struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. In 2014, he stated that he was seeing a therapist. He noted he was happier and healthier. He’s now 27 years old and has been clean and sober since his time in rehab.

Alcohol and drug addiction are not the only reasons a celeb might go to rehab. There are several reasons one might go to rehab, such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Kesha is singer and rapper. She was first singed to a label at age 18. She is best known for the singles, “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R”. In 2014, she entered the Timberline Knolls rehab center for an eating disorder. She was being treated for bulimia nervosa, which she developed when she was first signed. Although many speculated that it was for partying, she openly admitted to her problems. She states that she felt pressure to remain skinny and attractive. She completed a two-month rehab program.
8) Ireland Baldwin
Ireland Baldwin is best known for her modeling appearances. She is the daughter of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. Ireland has appeared in Elle, W Magazine and Vanity Fair. She played a small role in the film Grudge Match. In 2015, the 19-year-old model checked herself into the SOBA recovery center. She stated that she just needed to get away for a bit. She stated several times that her stay in rehab was not drug or alcohol related but did not go into any further detail. She did say that she might one day share her story. She had a two-week stay in rehab for feeling overwhelmed, stressed and being in a “tough” situation.

Selena Gomez is an actress and singer. The 23-year-old sensation started her career as a child and appeared on Barney & Friends. She had her big breakthrough with her role on the Disney series, Wizards of Waverley Palace. She’s had a very successful film career and appeared in the films Ramona and Beezus, Monte Carlo and Spring Breakers. In 2013, she released her debut solo album, Star Dance. In 2014, Selena had a two-week stay at the Dawn of Meadows rehab center in Arizona. The rehab center specializes in rehab for young people. Some sources claim that she went to rehab for substance abuse while others have noted it was for “emotional issues” and “too much partying”.

Nicole Richie is a fashion designer and reality television personality. She is the adopted daughter of Lionel Richie. Nicole is best known for her appearances on the massively successful reality TV series, The Simple Life, alongside Paris Hilton. During Nicole’s teenage years, she was very rebellious and started using drugs and alcohol. In her early 20s, she was arrested for driving under the influence and for possession of heroin. She checked herself into a rehab center in Arizona. After her stint in rehab she landed the role on The Simple Life. Since then, she’s had some troubles. In 2007, she was arrested for driving under the influence but completed a program. She’s also had many health issues and received treatment for an eating disorder unrelated to her substance issues. Her new show, Candidly Nicole, debuted in 2014.
5) Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Obsboune is an actor, singer and reality TV star. She is the daughter of Sharon Osbourne and heavy metal icon, Ozzy Osbourne. Kelly Osbourne is best known for her appearances on the reality TV series, The Osbournes. The series won the 2002 Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series. At the time, the series was massively popular and helped turn Kelly into a household name. Rolling Stone magazine described her as being “a wickedly funny, brutally honest, pint-sized, potty-mouthed spitfire”. She was also well known for her unique, original and trendy fashion sense. She had a music career and her first single was a Madonna cover, “Papa Don’t Preach”. In her teens, She became addicted to valium, Xanax and Klonopin. Her addiction to prescription drugs worsened with her success. She had two stints in rehab but didn’t get clean until after her third visit. She has gone on to appear on Dancing with The Stars, Fashion Police and Project Runway.

Demi Lovato is a singer and actress. As a child she appeared on Barney and Friends. She had her first big break with the Disney TV film, Camp Rock. She then starred in the Disney series, Sonny With A Chance. She’s also had a very successful music career and released the albums, Here We Go Again, Unbroken and Demi. In her late teens/early 20s, Demi struggled with an eating disorder, depression and self-harm. She admitted to “self-medicating” with drugs and alcohol and that she also had bulimia. She’s stated that she used cocaine several times a day and smuggled it onto planes. In 2010, she entered rehab at Timberline Knolls. Since leaving rehab she is clean and sober, although she has had her struggles. Demi is now 23 years old. She has stated that she is in a better place and much more comfortable with her body now.
3) Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan had her big breakthrough with her role in the Disney Film, The Parent Trap. She then starred in several films, such as Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Mean Girls. She also branched out into a music career and released the albums, Speak and A Little More Personal (RAW). She had great success in her late teens/early 20s and became a teen idol. However, it was also around this time that she began to have many issues that were covered by every media outlet. She’s struggled with drug and alcohol abuse. In 2007, she voluntarily checked herself into rehab at the Wonderland Center. She was 21 at the time and her first rehab stint was 30 days. One month after being released she was arrested for driving under the influence and entered into a 45-day rehab program at Promises Treatment Center. A few weeks after leaving rehab she was arrested again for a DUI and possession of cocaine. She then had a three-month rehab stay. In 2010, she spent 90 days in prison and had to complete a 90-day rehab program. She had two more stays in rehab at the Betty Ford Clinic and Cliffside Malibu. She is now 29 years old and her life seems to be in a much better place.

After her rehab stint, she successfully transited from child actor to rebellious sex symbol to a well-respected actress. She has starred in several films, including The Wedding Singer, Charlie’s Angels and 50 First Dates.

After leaving rehab, he would break into acting and land his most famous role on Glee. However, his demons continued to haunt him as he gained more fame. In March 2013, he entered rehab once again. He entered into a 30 day program and left after a month. In July 2013, he sadly died of a drug over dose at the age of 31.
